I did hear of a plan by Ian Shingler (the villages Central Beds councillor) to obtain our own PCSO unit within the village, however this would require a substantial amount of funding from the village in some way (off the top of my head £15,000 comes to mind).

I did sit in on a parish council meeting when this was discussed and can happily shed a little light. The position would be 'Rural Special Constable' which would mean an additional officer in the village for a maximum of 12 hours a week (however they may be called away from the village up to 4 hours of that if required to do so!). The funding is joint between the village and the police, the initial 'bill' (pardon the pun but I couldn't resist) is £1,500 to secure the post and provide training for the officer, thereafter a top up of £500 per annum towards running costs.

I have been told that this was agreed too by the parish council back in the middle of May and the project is moving forward still.
